On Thursday 15th May, 35 Year 10 students took part in the Business & Entrepreneurs Zoom Workshop. Employees from various sectors of business gave presentations on their roles and the responsibilities and skills required to a successful entrepreneur. They also talked a little bit about their career path and the qualifications they required when they began their careers at entry level. Most of the entrepreneurs learnt their current skills when they were employed doing other roles.

All the speakers were female, demonstrating equality within this the field of entrepreneurship. All the speakers talked about their love of what they did and said this was what drove them to work for themselves rather than work for other people. They all discussed the importance of independence and being able to make their own decisions when it came to running their businesses. They also talked about the need to take risks and be resilient if things do not work out immediately.

All of the speakers talked about having other jobs whilst building their business, such as teaching or helping friends in their businesses. The common theme was that their businesses were not built in a day, a week, a month or a year, but over several years.

After engaging with these entrepreneur students now have a much better idea of what it takes to run your own business and become a successful entrepreneur.
