Students and staff at the Warren School had the opportunity to take part in St John Ambulance National Save a Life September Campaign with the combined aim of engaging members of the community and fundraising.

St John Ambulance engaged with over 1500+ students and staff at the Warren School and 500+ students at local partner primary schools, during various assemblies dedicated to equipping our communities with four essential lifesaving skills. The goal was to educate and empower as many individuals as possible to act swiftly and effectively in the event of an emergency.

Outlook ygaawved

By participating in Save a Life September, we are not just teaching a skill, we are joining a movement to create a safer, more prepared community.

Watch St John Ambulance's new online first aid videos and other online first aid information, which was also shown during PSCHE form time.

Our new first aid videos are featured in the campaign. They are designed to bring fresh visuals and a modern approach to helping people learn how to save a life from choking, cardiac arrest and severe bleeding. A massive thanks to NHS England who funded these (and other first aid resources).

Student feedback include:

"The Save a Life September assembly taught us about emergency first aid situations that could be life-threatening e.g. CPR and choking. This will help students like me who want to pursue careers in the medical field and work in hospitals" Hannah, Year 8

"I was really inspired by the assembly yesterday as it really allowed me to gain knowledge and confidence to save someone's life, which is one of my goals for the future! I learnt how to help someone who had a severe allergic reaction, chocking, CPR and had severe bleeding. The assembly really helped with my understanding on how to save people" Lassana, Year 10.

"Prior to the assembly, I did not have any knowledge regarding applying first aid, but after listening and watching the practical demonstrations, this gave me a better insight into giving life-saving first aid and I am now more confident in case of an emergency. I think this assembly is required for everyone" Behlyul, Year 12

"I enjoyed the assembly as it inspired me to learn about First Aid and how to treat people in need. I now know how to help someone in a medical emergency and how to perform CPR and use an EpiPen" Olin, Year 13

Year 13 Achievement Team Leader, Ms Reynolds said: “The St John Ambulance assembly was an excellent experience for our Year 13 students. They were attentive and engaged throughout, and enjoyed the follow-up tutor time videos. The session gave students a greater understanding of careers in healthcare and emergency services, leading to thoughtful discussions about the realities of working in these medical fields. It was particularly valuable for students with raising awareness and dealing with  lifesaving emergency situations. Also, I personally feel more confident in my first aid knowledge following the assembly.”

St John Ambulance is the charity that steps forward in the moments that matter to save lives and keep communities safe. In addition to the first aid courses, we provide and provisions we supply, we also rely on generous cash donations from the public to enable us to provide our services. Without you and our volunteers, St John Ambulance wouldn’t be able to count on our first responders, ambulance operations, or the first aid cover that can be the difference between a life lost and a life saved.
