Year 10 Drama theatre trip - The Woman in Black

Back
February 5th 2026

Year 10 Drama students attended the Mousetrap theatre trip on Tuesday 27th January 2026 at St. Martin’s theatre in London. It was a fantastic opportunity to see a West end production, thanks to the generous funding from the Jack Petchey Foundation. This classic Agatha Christie mystery kept us on the edge of our seats, making it a memorable experience for all pupils who attended. The trip was a culturally enriching experience allowing pupils to develop skills to evaluate a live theatre show. Pupils were given the opportunity to explore key aspects of a professional show such as acting skills, costume, lighting, set design and sound. This theatrical experience allowed them to build knowledge about live theatre and therefore give them the tools to complete section B of their Component 3 GCSE written exam.

One pupil said ‘I thought I knew who the killer was, but I was wrong! The ending shocked me,’ . Another student remarked, ‘I was completely hooked! I didn’t want to take my eyes off the stage.’ . Thanks to the Jack Petchey funding, purchasing tickets for a professional production like this was made possible, allowing Warren pupils to experience the magic of live theatre. As another student put it, ‘I’m so grateful we got to see this as it really inspired me to think about drama in a different way.’

All pupils who attended the trip were impeccably behaved and the experience opened their minds to the different careers they could consider when leaving school linked to theatre, acting and production. As we were leaving the theatre a member of the public complimented the pupils and said ‘It’s incredibly inspiring to see students taking an interest in the arts as they were so engaged during the performance.’ She also said ‘I was so impressed by their conversations about the play because young people are our future actors, writers and directors’ I was extremely proud of all pupils on the trip and am looking forward to creating more future opportunities to develop and foster creativity and a life-long passion for theatre amongst our fantastic Warren students.
