Seville-Cádiz school trip - May 2026
Back30 students from years 8, 9 and 10 got the chance to practise their Spanish out in the wild on a 5 day school trip to Seville and Cádiz.
Our enthusiastic Spanish students joined Mr Jethwa, Ms Prokofjeva and Ms Dixon for a trip to the Andalusia region in the south of Spain. In Seville, they took in the stunning architecture and history of the city, visiting key monuments such as Plaza de España, Seville cathedral and the beautiful Real Alcázar palace. They also climbed, some more enthusiastically than others, the 104 metres to the top of the Giralda for a breathtaking panoramic view of the city.
All of the students took part in a cooking class at Taller Andaluz de Cocina, where they learned how to cook spanish favourites, gazpacho and paella. After this, they shared what they’d made with the group for dinner. On Thursday night, the group visited the impressive modern monument, Las Setas de Sevilla. Here, they were able to take lots of photos and enjoy the sunset and the following light show.
On the fourth day, the group travelled to the smaller neighbouring city of Cádiz where they had the chance to go to the beach, play some football and dip their toes in the water to cool down. They then practised their Spanish skills ordering food and drinks in a local café. In the evening they got to experience a live flamenco show at El museo del Baile Flamenco where I think everyone was impressed with the castanet performance.
It was lovely to see the students truly immerse themselves in Spanish culture, engage in the activities and practise their Spanish skills with the locals. It was a fantastic opportunity for them to see the real-world application of what they study at school.
“My favourite part was when we cooked paella, it was really nice. I also enjoyed going to the beach, the scenery was nice, good weather, it was a great day. “ - Year 9 student.
