Recently we held a Karaoke Competition during lunchtime for Year 7 students. Each form group was invited to enter an act, it could be a soloist or group and all they needed to do was sing their favourite song to a Karaoke backing track. Some form groups had so many talented singers they entered more than one group!
There were so many great performances it was really tricky to judge. All the students were very brave to sing in front of the panel of judges (Mrs Briner & 2 GCSE vocal students) and the other entrants.
All students who participated were awarded a certificate and earnt valuable points for their form group. The winners received trophies and students who came 2nd and 3rd Music prizes.
- “I really enjoyed the karaoke competition, I felt very nervous but I’m glad I did it”
- “I didn’t think I would be very good but everyone said I did really well”
Mrs Briner (Head of Perf Arts & Judge) “Some of the songs chosen were really tricky to sing. I was really impressed by how well they sang. When students were told the results they were all really supportive of one another, applauding everyone who participated.”
Mr Roberts (ATL for Year 7) commented: “I saw the children outside of the music department cheering and hugging each other in congratulations – it was a delight to see!”
We look forward to hearing what the Year 8s can do in their interform competition in the Spring Term.
