Year 10 Football Team Progress in the Essex Cup
By Tajus, Year 8

September 26th, preliminary round of the Essex cup, two teams and one winner. Who will progress and who will go home? These are the questions that everyone is asking, and today we will answer them. The Warren School cruised into the second round of the tournament with a 4-0 victory. The Sydney Russell squad played with passion and heart to the very end, but it was not quite enough.

The first goal was scored by striking sensation Chris Kipoy in the 7th minute after an intense one-on-one with Sydney Russell’s goalkeeper. It was from very close distance and was set up by a wonderful through ball. After that, the goals began flowing.

The next player on the scoresheet was Daniel Wensdon with a long range shot after intercepting a Sydney Russell free kick in the 13th minute of the match. This meant Warren were 2-0 up in the first 15 minutes of the game. What a start!

The final goal of the first half also belonged to Christopher. A bit of a scramble at first but a goal’s a goal. The goal was assisted by Eligijus Dapkus as he exceptionally caressed the ball into the box for the striker.

The second half (which was quite quiet at first) was brought to light by star player Chris one last time. It was a beautiful shot by the player and was set up by another marvellous through ball.

What is next for the victors? Well, they shall go on to face the Robert Clack in the first round proper. Who will end up triumphant in this local rivalry? We shall find out in the coming weeks.
