Wellcome trust

On Wednesday 11th July the Sixth Form took a group 16 students to the Wellcome trust at Euston to attend a University Conference hosted by The Brilliant Club in partnership with King’s College London, Ormiston Academies Trust, Nene Park Academy, Cambridge Meridian Academies Trust, the University of Cambridge and UEA.

In the UK today, there is an entrenched link between household income and educational success. Pupils from low-income backgrounds are far less likely than their wealthier peers to attain five good GCSE grades, progress to higher education or secure a high-income job.

The Brilliant club work with schools and students to help narrow this gap and support our students with their university applications. On the day the students had the opportunity to attend several talks including:

Getting Career Ready

Medicine and Dentistry

Showing Passion for your Subject

Adjusting to University Life

The students thoroughly enjoyed the day and came away feeling that they were now more informed and equipped for their application to University.
