On Wednesday 19th December the SEND department held their very own Christmas Bake Off in honour of Macmillan Cancer Support. It is a wonderful charity that has supported the families of many staff and students. At Christmas it is important that we do not forget that for some struggling with cancer it can be a particularly difficult time so we all need to work together to make it as special as we can.
This Coffee morning was a great success with us collecting over £80; with many more cakes to still sell in the hope to reach our £100 target! I would like to express my ongoing gratitude to my colleagues in the SEND department as today’s success was a clear testament to the hard work, passion and drive.
Also a big thank you to those who took the time to join us for tea and cake and made a donation.
This was followed by the team also hosting an afternoon tea event for all our EHCP students and their parents to discuss progress to date as well as set future targets and any concerns with the key workers. Students work was shared and displayed along with the opportunity to celebrate all of the students and department’s successes this term. The students got to demonstrate their catering skills through helping to serve the parents with the tea and biscuits (whilst having a few themselves). As a result of the positive atmosphere created all involved thoroughly enjoyed the event and look forward to the next one.
