Food Studies, Food Preparation and Nutrition, and Health and Social Care at The Warren are taught by two teachers. There are three fully functioning food rooms with a wide range of equipment to allow pupils to develop their culinary skills. The pupils are given the opportunity to expand their knowledge and confidence in areas such as practical cookery, nutrition and food safety and hygiene.
The practical skills learned in Food Studies, Food Preparation and Nutrition are life skills that the pupils will use throughout adulthood. The subject also allows pupils to experience working with foods that they may not have come across outside of school.
All Year 8 and Year 9 students study Food Studies at Key Stage 3, with the option of choosing GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition.
