On Monday 26th September we were lucky enough to be able to take a group of 46 students from across Years 7-11 to the Royal Opera House to see a production of The Barber of Seville. Seeing an opera is a rare opportunity for many and the combination of music, drama, costume and staging makes it a really amazing story-telling and cultural experience.
The students behaviour was fantastic throughout. A member of the public complimented the students on their quiet and considerate behaviour on the train journey. They showed great focus throughout the 3 1/2 hour long production and their feedback was great.
“I did not know people could sing as loud as that. None of them had microphones”
“When the entire stage moved and swayed from side to side with all the singers performing on it I was really impressed”
“I had no idea anyone could sing that high!”
For many students it was their first time seeing a live performance of any kind let alone with an orchestra and in Italian.
We look forward to our next trip.
