Year 7 pupils work with the Metropolitan Police to tackle knife crime
On the 26th and 27th June 2017 students from year 7 received a lesson with PC Halleron, our dedicated schools officer, to look at the issues surrounding knife crime and young people. The lesson focused a number of key areas:
- The law in relation to weapons
- Why people carry weapons
- Joint enterprise
- What you should do if you think someone is carrying a weapon
Throughout the lesson pupils were able to see a collection of weapons that have either been surrendered or confiscated from around the Borough and ask a range of questions.
“I never realised that it didn’t matter if your weapon was real or not the consequences can be severe”.
“I would never have carried a knife anyway but it has made me think differently about what I would do if I knew that someone else was carrying”.
“I really enjoyed the lesson and whilst we learn stuff in PSCHE it’s better to have it from a proper policeman as he could give us real life stories and answer our questions”.
We’d like to thank PC Halleron once again for his support in delivering sessions to our pupils.
