First Aid – Sixth Form

Our year 13 students are currently studying first aid as part of their core PSHE programme.  Over six weeks they will cover a range of topics that mirror the first aid at work qualification and include:

  • Primary & Secondary Surveys
  • Recovery Position
  • CPR
  • Shock
  • Choking
  • Asthma, Epilepsy, Diabetes & Anaphylaxis
  • Burns, Breaks, Bleeds & Dislocations

The aim is for all students to feel confident in either supporting or managing a first aid incident should the situation arise.  By teaching our students these skills we are preparing them as citizens and empowering them to be able to help friends, family members and anyone in need.

“It’s so important that we learn these skills as they could be the difference between life and death” – Year 13 student

“I feel more confident knowing that I could help someone, I think I would go over and offer my help if I thought someone needed it.  It’s nice to know that I can help others and that they can help me should I need it”. – Year 13 student
